A dark fantasy novel, and an archive built around it: chapters, world lore, a running timeline, original artwork, and audio narration for readers who want to hear the story.
The Severine Protocol is a dark fantasy novel that sets ancient vampire lore against modern military science fiction. This site is its companion archive: the first chapter in full, a timeline that runs from 1775 Poland to a 2026 Dallas, a Codex of world lore and classified dossiers, and optional audio narration for readers who prefer to listen. New material is published here as the manuscript moves toward release.
It is written for readers of dark fantasy, gothic horror, and military science fiction, and for anyone who enjoys deep worldbuilding, layered history, and characters carrying centuries of consequences. If you like to sample a book before you commit to it, Chapter One is open and free to read or listen to right here.
The Severine Protocol is written by D.W. Smethurst, who spent twenty-five years in the U.S. Army and Special Forces before turning to fiction. The artwork, chapter archive, lore entries, and narration on this site are published and maintained by the author himself, so what you read here comes from the source rather than from a marketing team.
Send a message through the contact page and it reaches the author directly. You can also read Chapter One, or join the mailing list for release updates.
